my favorite music of 2015
December 21, 2015

If your favorite music didn't make the list, I probably didn't like it very much.

MY FAVORITE ALBUMS OF 2015:

NUMBER FIFTEEN.
Muse's Drones

For fans of: Franz Ferdinand, Royal Blood, Fall Out Boy.
The straightforward rock album fans of "Stockholm Syndrome" and "Knights Of Cydonia" have been patiently waiting for.
Spotlight Track:

Bonus Track: Happy Song by Bring Me The Horizon from the album That's The Spirit.

NUMBER FOURTEEN.
Oceans Ate Alaska's Lost Isles

For Fans of: Like Moths To Flames, The Word Alive, Woe, Is Me.
Good luck trying to keep track of the time signatures.
Spotlight Track:

Bonus Track: Hollow Life by Coast Modern from the album (Forthcoming).

NUMBER THIRTEEN.
Palisades' MIND GAMES

For fans of: That's Outrageous!, Abandon All Ships, Issues.
Pop-metal salad drowned in delicious hook dressing.
Spotlight Track:

Bonus Track: Carry On by Cœur De Pirate from the album Roses.

NUMBER TWELVE.
Enter Shikari's The Mindsweep

For fans of: letlive., Beartooth, We Came As Romans.
Smart rock music with an important message - "there was never a broadcast made of such urgency."
Spotlight Track:

Bonus Track: American Beauty/American Psycho (Remix feat. A$AP Ferg) by Fall Out Boy from the album Make America Psycho Again.

NUMBER ELEVEN.
D.A.'s Time Machine

For fans of: Jellyfish, Queen, Elton John.
Cornelius Thornibald Spainhower himself could not have come up with a more accurate moniker for D.A.'s debut album.
Spotlight Track:

Bonus Track: New Americana by Halsey from the album Badlands.

NUMBER TEN.
BOOTS' AQUARIA

For fans of: Raury, FKA twigs, Banks.
Simply put, BOOTS is a genius whose refreshing take on hip-pop boasts utterly antagonizing levels of talent.
Spotlight Track:

Bonus Track: (Cover of Taylor Swift's) Blank Space by I Prevail from the album Punk Goes Pop, Vol. 6 (2015 Digital Edition).

NUMBER NINE.
Until The Ribbon Breaks' A Lesson Unlearnt

For fans of: Glass Animals, Cherub, The Weeknd.
The heart is a real tangible element of this group's debut release.
Spotlight Track:

Bonus Track: Another Night On Mars by The Maine from the album American Candy.

NUMBER EIGHT.
From First To Last's Dead Trees

For fans of : D.R.U.G.S., Falling In Reverse, From First To Last.
Let's face it - From First To Last were never the best band in the scene. That is until Periphery-frontman Spencer Sotelo stepped in to perform Matt Good's signature hooks. I only pray that this album was as well-received by the rest of the scene as it's been by me.
Spotlight Track:

Bonus Track: The Shade by Metric from the album Pagans In Vegas.

NUMBER SEVEN.
Born Of Osiris' Soul Sphere

For fans of: Deceiver-era The Word Alive, Glass Cloud, Veil Of Maya.
Born Of Osiris is the catharsis Patrick Bateman yearns for. Thank you BOO for this outstanding outlet.
Spotlight Track:

Bonus Track: Trip Switch by Nothing But Thieves from the album Nothing But Thieves (Forthcoming).

NUMBER SIX.
Periphery's Juggernaut

For fans of: Volumes, Between The Buried And Me, Dream Theater.
Best heard in its entirety, this double album is as beautifully-orchestrated/masterfully-executed as heavy music gets.
Spotlight Track:

Bonus Track: Shroud (feat. Krizz Kaliko) by Tech N9ne from the album Special Effects.

NUMBER FIVE.
CHVRCHΞS' Every Open Eye

For fans of: The Naked And Famous, Purity Ring, Passion Pit.
The best in cognitive dissonance since Passion Pit's Gossamer.
Spotlight Track:

Bonus Track: I Mean Something (feat. Feist) by Peaches from the album Rub.

NUMBER FOUR.
Big Data's 2.0

For fans of: Robert DeLong, AWOLNATION, Capital Cities.
Any pop album that features a dial-up modem as an instrument is great in my book.
Spotlight Track:

Bonus Track: Don't Wait Up by Robert DeLong from the album In The Cards.

NUMBER THREE.
Everything Everything's Get To Heaven

For fans of: alt-J, Two Door Cinema Club, Vampire Weekend.
"In March, the band described their sound as 'Baroque Obama' on Facebook, explaining to Gigwise that 'it's where Bach meets Jay Z'."
Spotlight Track:

Bonus Track: SIRI (feat. Elliphant & Pusha T) by YOGI from the album (Forthcoming).

NUMBER TWO.
HOLYCHILD's The Shape Of Brat Pop To Come

For fans of: twenty | one | pilots, Saint Motel, CHVRCHΞS.
Every single track on the album could hold its own as a pop single.
Spotlight Track:

Bonus Track: Love Me by The 1975 from the album I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It (Forthcoming).

WORST ALBUM OF THE YEAR.
Tyler, The Creator's Cherry Bomb

Whoever mixed this album should literally be put in jail.
Antispotlight Track:

Bonus Track: My Type by Saint Motel from the album (Forthcoming).

BEST ALBUM AND SONG OF THE YEAR.
Joywave's How Do You Feel Now?

For fans of: HOLYCHILD, Saint Motel, Atlas Genius.
What can be said about an album that surpasses no less than 75 others?
